Made to Order: Why It Takes a Few Days, and What You Get For It
Teilen
You order a hoodie. Nothing arrives the next day. Here's exactly what's happening in the meantime, and why we think the trade is worth it.
Nothing exists until you order it
We don't hold stock. There is no warehouse with five hundred hoodies in it waiting for someone to want one. When your order comes in, a blank garment in your size and colour is pulled, your design is printed or embroidered onto it, it's cured, checked, folded and packed.
That's the whole reason for the wait. It's also the reason we can offer a design in eleven colours and ten sizes without any of them ending up in a landfill because nobody wanted the 3XL in sage green.
The real numbers
Production: 2–5 business days. This is the printing and quality check. Simple prints on common garments run at the fast end; embroidery, and anything in an unusual size, runs at the slow end.
Then shipping, from the facility nearest you:
- Germany: 3–5 business days
- Rest of EU and UK: 4–8 business days
- US and Canada: 3–7 business days
- Australia and everywhere else: 8–15 business days
So a German order is typically in your hands in about a week to a week and a half. A US order, similar. Australia, expect two to three weeks.
Business days means weekdays. A Friday evening order doesn't start production until Monday.
The bit nobody mentions: multi-item orders
If you order a t-shirt and a cutting board, they're made in different facilities on different equipment. They will arrive separately, and possibly days apart. This is normal and doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.
It also means the slowest item sets the pace of "my whole order has arrived". If you're ordering for a deadline and want everything at once, ordering the awkward items separately and earlier is the practical move.
Ordering for a date
Take the top of the production range, add the top of the shipping range, then add a few days of margin. So for a birthday in Germany: 5 + 5 + 3 = about two weeks ahead. For Australia: 5 + 15 + 5 = about three and a half weeks.
For December, add more. Carrier networks slow down from late November onwards regardless of how fast anything is printed, and that congestion is the part nobody can speed up. Mid-November is the comfortable cut-off for Christmas within Europe; early November if it's crossing an ocean.
If you've left it late, a gift card arrives instantly by email and lets the recipient pick their own size — which, for clothing, is genuinely the better gift anyway.
Why we can't take change-of-mind returns
This follows directly from everything above. Your hoodie was made for your order. If you send it back because you'd prefer a different colour, there's nobody else it fits — it goes in the bin. EU law recognises this: Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU removes the 14-day withdrawal right for goods made to a consumer's specification.
What that doesn't change is your right to a product that isn't faulty. If it arrives misprinted, damaged, or not what you ordered, send a photo to support@zomamoda.com within 30 days. We replace it or refund it, and you don't post anything back. Your statutory rights under German and EU conformity law are untouched.
The practical consequence for you: check the size chart before you order, not after. Every product page has the measurements. If you're unsure, email us your chest and length measurements and we'll tell you which size to pick.
If something goes wrong
You have a two-hour window after ordering to change the size, colour or delivery address — after that the order is usually already in production. Email us as fast as you can and we'll do what we can.
If tracking stalls or the parcel doesn't turn up, tell us within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. We'll reship it free or refund you.
Questions we get asked
How long does a ZomaModa order take?
2–5 business days to make, then 3–5 days delivery in Germany, 4–8 in the EU and UK, 3–7 in the US and Canada, 8–15 in Australia and the rest of the world.
Can I pay for faster delivery?
Faster shipping options appear at checkout where they're available, but they only shorten the transit half. Production still takes 2–5 business days, so express postage saves days rather than the whole wait.
Why did my order arrive in two parcels?
Different product types are made in different facilities. Apparel, cutting boards and phone cases don't come from the same place, so they ship separately. Each has its own tracking.
Can I cancel?
Within roughly two hours of ordering, yes — email support@zomamoda.com immediately. Once production has started the item exists and can't be un-made.
