Cutting Boards

Glass cutting boards for bread, built from tempered glass rather than wood - and that choice was deliberate.

Wood is porous. It absorbs garlic, onion and the sour tang of a starter, it needs oiling, it cannot go in a dishwasher, and it splits if you leave it wet. Tempered glass does none of that. It wipes clean, holds no smell, resists stains, and goes on the top rack of the dishwasher when you cannot face washing up.

The designs

Original ZomaModa artwork printed onto the surface - Sourdough DNA, Proofing Time, Queen of Crust, King of Crust, Fermentation Station, Feed the Starter Save the World. They work as serving boards as much as prep boards, which is where most of them end up.

How to use one properly

  • Use the blank side for cutting and the printed side for serving - glass is hard on knife edges
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe, or hand wash with warm water and mild soap
  • Avoid abrasive scourers and bleach-based scrubs on the printed face
  • Never take one from the fridge onto a hot hob or pour boiling liquid onto a cold board - thermal shock is the only thing that will crack tempered glass
